*A dear friend of mine gave me a book called Goodbye to All That and it’s a captivating page-turner, a collection of stories written by writers on loving and leaving New York. They share the grief that comes with relocating – sometimes friends move away, rents soar or love still remains out of reach and so you make the heart breaking decision to say goodbye to a place which holds many memories. I recommend this book to wandering spirits with an affinity to the magic of Manhattan. There is something incredibly enchanting and thrilling about New York, don’t you think?
*While I’d like to dress regularly in stylish recycled/upcycled clothes all the time, the reality is that hip eco-friendly designs are not available everywhere. I believe that conscious clothing will become mainstream one day, but for now, we must seek it out. The beige dress I’m wearing in the above photo was created by a talented London-based sustainable fashion designer/friend called Davina Hawthorne. Thankfully you can order her beautiful, tailor-made designs online.
*There’s a full moon next week and I don’t know about you, but I always feel a little off key during this time. Interestingly, the word lunatic comes from the word lunaticus (meaning ‘of the moon’). A visiting Indian Swami recently joked that mental institutes require extra security during a full moon. And a study at the Bradford Royal Infirmary in the UK found that dog bites were twice as common during full moons. I find that doing yoga helps to balance my mood. And you can’t beat doing a downward dog on the beach with the gentle waves and soothing music in the background. Unfortunately I will miss the next Full Moon Yoga session at Talise Spa, Madinat Jumeirah on April 15, but the temperature will be perfect. To book click here.
*I recently stumbled upon an awesome raw vegan eatery called Bestro (in Galeries Lafayette). I was super impressed with their tasty juices. Now, I can’t wait to try their sugar and gluten free Maqui Berry Cheese Cake. Oh and the Matcha Green Tea and Mint Chocolate Torte. Yum. I’m feeling hungry just writing about it!
Have a beautiful Thursday!
Love,
