DANCE FOR THE SOUL

Chakradance

Over the summer, a persistent feeling kept arising during my meditations. It was a calling for me to pursue my passion for free flowing movement. As much as I appreciate stillness, I also love to dance. So I began my search, trying several dance forms. Finally I came across Chakradance and immediately it resonated with me.

This free-spirited modern movement is linked to the chakra system, which has roots in ancient India. Chakradance takes you on a journey of self-discovery, blending free style movement to different music frequencies to awaken each of our seven chakras. It begins with a candlelit meditation and closes with mandala art, in order for you to process whatever has risen for you during your dance.

The creator of Chakradance, Natalie Southgate, combined her expertise in professional dance, Jung psychology and chakra healing, to create this new fusion of ancient wisdoms. She says: “Reflecting back on my life, the times when I have felt most alive and in touch with my ‘true self’ are the times when I have been moving my body, through dance. Not the times when my childhood dancing teacher was instructing me to move my body this way or that, but the times when I really let go, let the music enter my body and ‘moved’ in an authentic way. I believe that when matter and spirit move together in a rhythmic dance, the experience is one of feeling truly alive.”

This dance awakens our chakra system, which influences every aspect of our lives. From our primal instincts to our sexuality, to the way we handle love and power, communicate, use our intuition and connect on a spiritual level, these are all linked to our subtle energy fields. If our chakras are out of balance, this manifests itself in physical or emotional disturbances. Chakradance is about recreating harmony in your life, nourishing the soul and making a deeper connection to our inner world – the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses.

Chakradance can be likened to a waking dream, and as we move, we release emotions, that are sometimes stored in our muscles for many years. Drawing on the wisdom of Jungian Psychology, Chakradance has a powerful healing effect and each dance gives rise to different insights, leading us closer to the person we are truly meant to be. I can’t wait to share this incredible dance once I’m qualified to facilitate it.

Namaste,

Sarah signature
