So, you might have put on a few festive pounds or perhaps you’re contemplating a detox since 2015 is fast approaching. Whatever the case, it’s always a good time to do a detox. In fact, juice cleansing is an effective way of eliminating toxins and upping your nutrients. I once interviewed Jason Vale (now known as the celebrity juice master) and he revealed how he literally turned his stressful life around thanks to drinking fresh juice. He used to be a puffy, overweight, walking ball of nasty ailments (think depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and more) until he committed to cutting out the junk and drinking raw juice. Afterwards, he was so overwhelmed with his newfound, glowing health that he decided to make a living from spreading the word.
These days, there are plenty of cleansing juices to choose from. I tried the three day Go Organic juice cleanse. With names like Brainiac (cucumber, celery, spinach, parsley and lemon) and After Party (beetroot & carrot), I was intrigued. As expected, they support local organic farms which are 100 per cent pesticide free and they provide their juices in recyclable plastic (100% BPA free) bottles. Apparently, these bottles use less considerably energy than glass when it comes to recycling. Go Organic juices are grind into a fine pulp and then cold pressed, so that you don’t lose any of the nutritional value.
So, what about the taste of these juices? While some of the rainforest swirly green colours might not be the most inviting, at least you know there is goodness within! Personally, I love the zesty tangy flavour of Time Machine (lemon juice, honey and filtered water) and the yummy blend of vegetable juices in Ensalada. All the juices are alkalising (making them an instant boost for your immune system) and super fresh. They are designed to drink in chronological order, as each flavour is suited to a particular time of day.
During your actual cleanse, it’s important to drink lots of water to keep hydrated and to kick-start your metabolism you can try dry brushing your body, bathing with Epsom salts and booking a professional lymphatic drainage massage. And after all your beneficial nutritional work, it’s best to refrain from indulging in any feasts post-cleanse.
