Dance Like No-one is Watching
I first experienced the magic of 5Rhythms a couple of years ago, when the founder of this dance movement, New York dancer Gabrielle Roth, was still alive. Back then, this dance was something that resonated deep within me. Our roots are that of tribal people – our ancestors used to dance around fires in a free-spirited, uninhibited fashion. Today we have nightclubs, yet they fail to connect us on a deeper level. 5Rhythms brings back that community spirit and gives us a chance to become aware of our true nature. Last weekend, Adam Barley, an internationally renowned instructor, came to town to teach his Riding the Wild Fire workshop. There were urban beats, candles and an enthusiastic crowd of soulful dancers. Adam taught us to move freely, look within, connect with others during the dance whilst also gracefully detaching. The whole experience was exhilarating.
Tea Time
Drinking tea is one of my favourite pastimes and the other day I went into Argo Tea (on Citywalk in Dubai). This café concept, which originates from Chicago and is committed to being a sustainable business, was born out of a passion for sourcing the best teas from around the world and blending them into unique flavours. I’m not really a fan of the taste of fruit herbal teas, but their fruit sangria tea is amazing! It’s a loose tea (an infusion of hibiscus petals, dried fruits and rosehips) and the secret to its divine flavour is the addition of soymilk. It might sound bizarre but this sugar-free/dairy-free formula tastes gorgeous, a little like a creamy sangria (as the name suggests). If you try it, you’ll see what I mean!
Cranberry Girl
*I’m a big proponent of natural beauty. Life is too short to be using nail polishes with carcinogenic ingredients (like formaldehyde), especially when so many nourishing, non-toxic formulas exist today. This week, when I went for a mani/pedi at my local Tips & Toes branch, I went for their add-on – a natural Cranberry Treatment. It involves a nourishing foot and hand scrub followed by a super duper moisturizing cream being left on your feet and hands for about seven minutes. This is then followed by a massage. You leave the nail bar with baby like skin and exuding a yummy cranberry scent. This Tips & Toes offer lasts until the end of the month. Go to www.tipsandtoes.com
Calling all Goddesses
We still have some places left for our 6 Week Zen Goddess Journey (starting next Wednesday 24th September). This is a sacred circle where you will learn meditation tools & techniques, energy exercises (to awaken your feminine Shakti force) and explore your own inner goddess through dance, art and other goddess-inspired rituals. As women we spend a lot of time and money on our outer shell, however as we know, if we neglect to nourish our soul, then we can’t find true happiness. If you would like to attend one session or sign up for the full six-week journey, let me know.
Zen Meditation Classes
I’m holding a group Zen meditation session (for beginners) this Monday evening at 7.30pm in Business Bay. This session is open to men and women. We will be focusing upon a meditation that helps to combat emotional stress, fear and anxiety. If you would like to attend please email me sarah@oncloudzen.com or text 050 874 2229.
Have a beautiful Thursday!
Love,
