*The YogaFest – the annual, vibrant, outdoor three-day yoga gathering in Dubai – is back again. This free event has an amazing community vibe and I can’t wait to try Sufi Whirling & Cleansing Meditation – spinning one’s body in repetitive circles, is a symbolic imitation of planets in the Solar System orbiting the sun. There’s also Chakra Flow with the lovely, bubbly Liz Terry and Yoga Nidra (a powerful technique from the Tantra Yoga tradition) with Balachandran. Plus a wide range of wellness and philosophical talks. Hope to see you there! To register go to www.yogafest.ae
*As ironic as it sounds, in a country with 24/7 sun, there’s still a demand for self-tanning services. Sadly though, many spray tans contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to our health. However, when I heard about the organic, paraben-free, alcohol and odour-free service called Bronzelicious, I decided to give it a go. This spray tan is applied by an expert called Susanna (who is renowned for her attention to small details) – and not surprisingly, famous faces go to see her when they are in town. Anyway, I was super impressed with the result – a natural, sun-kissed look. Best of all, it can also be done in the comfort of your own home. To book or for more info call 052 9873752 or visit the Bronzelicious facebook page.
*I’m a big believer in the power of Feng Shui (the ancient Chinese metaphysical science) – clearing out physical clutter from my home created an instant sense of calm. I’ve since learnt more about the Eight Directions, thanks to a Feng Shui workshop led by Samita Khanna at The Warehouse. So, for instance, the South of your home (check with a compass!) represents the element of fire so it’s best to avoid water features so that you don’t hinder attracting abundance into your life. Having words like ‘Peace’ and ‘Love’ dotted around your home immediately raises the energetic vibrational frequency too. In the above photo, the ‘Love’ cover cushion (just Dhs125) and the ‘Peace’ sign (at a bargain price at Dhs30) are both good examples. I highly recommend a trip to The Warehouse – it’s a real treasure trove of affordable hand-picked trinkets, that will enhance the good vibes of your home. The Warehouse is located in Al Quoz – click here for the location map.
